Season Overview

November 28, 2005

I’m looking forward to a season that will be challenging, fun and packed with potential success.

We have a number of determined and talented seniors returning, along with some experienced underclassman and an excellent class of incoming freshman.

Our goals (for this season) are to best last years record setting duel meet season of 30 wins, win the conference for the third straight year, win our sections and bring home a state tournament trophy.  These goals will not be attained easily, but are well within our reach.

This season will be fun because I have two great coaches to work with, Jim Nunn and Tom Sims.  Our parental support is excellent,  as good as it gets. Our wrestlers are respectful, high in character, follow MSHSL and team rules and routinely stay academically focused throughout the season.  I also have a new hip that feels great.  I’m to old to move, but when I do move, it’s fun to move, pain free.

Many of our athletes have gone to wrestling camps, put valuable time in the weight room, recorded many miles of running and have attended our wrestling club on a regular basis.  With serious work ethics during the season this is a receipe for success.  Our philsosphy is train hard physically, mentally and nutritionally to our fullest potential (100% daily).  If we do this, regardless of the outcomes of this season, we can look at ourselves as winners.  I believe the life skills developed in wrestling will remain forever and will help prepare our wrestlers to deal with challenges of life, well past their days of competition.

Thank you for checking out our website and we hope to see you at one of our meets, home or away.  We also welcome your child to enter our program, regardless of their grade or experience level.  Our elementary program will start in February and for information on our middle school programs contact Kelly Lewis at Minnetonka Middle School West and Matt Lichty at Minnetonka Middle School East.  If you have any complaints, call coach Nunn, jobs needed done, call coach Sims, compliments......................well, that would leave me.
